Took a couple of days off to do a few hikes around the Saugerties area. The first on the list was Huckleberry Point; a ~4.5 miles in and out.
We arrived at this hike around 12pm on a Monday and there was only one other car in the parking lot. The trail itself isn’t too difficult when the conditions are ideal. However when we went, the trail was icy and microspikes were definitely helpful. We took the blue/red trail and followed that until the blue trail heads right. Once we get on the blue trail, we stay on until we hit the yellow trail, and our destination is clearly marked as Huckleberry Point on the sign.
At Huckleberry Point, the view was great looking towards to the Overlook Mountain side. With the nice weather, and slight breeze it was definitely a treat once we got there. This should be a better spot when Fall foliage rolls around. After eating lunch, which for me, was just 2 snack bars. We took some photos and made our way out, retracing the steps that we took.
From the parking lot, the sound of a roaring stream can be heard and we went to look for where the source of the sound was coming from. There is a creek here and the water was rushing quite a bit. This bonus was a nice end to the first hike of my trip.
