Mount Arab – Family Hiking Tupper Lake’s Summer Triad Challenge (Pt. 2/3)

Part 2 of 3 of my Tupper Lake series. We decided to do some hikes in the area and what better than to try to do some from the Summer Triad challenge. Mount Arab is a short and easy hike that covers about 2 miles in and out. It is a popular hike so parking is limited if you visit during peak times.

At the start of the hike, it is a gradual ascent to the top mixed with stone steps, dirt paths and wooden steps. You’ll know you’re almost there once you get to an opening and see a bench. The top of the fire tower definitely provides an amazing view of the surrounding Tupper Lake area. Well worth the extra effort once you get to the top of the mountain.

The background of this hike. I told my wife how Brandon hasn’t hiked or been in a hiking video since he was a year and change when we did Falling Water Preserve back in 2023. At that time, he was toddling and needed to hold hands to walk an extended period of time without falling. Fast forward to now, the kid just motors ahead on his own and is willing to push himself when met with a challenge. It is evident when he hyped himself and continued to go up the fire tower even though he stopped midway once he realized the height factor. Aria on the other hand, hasn’t hike in a while so she needed to get back in the groove. Her ascent was slow, but going down the mountain, her pace picked up and we were able to get down in fairly decent time.

Once we were done with Mount Arab, I drove the family back to the Airbnb rental, refueled and headed to Coney Mountain to continue doing the Tupper Lake triad solo.
