It is crazy how time flies. We last visited Lake Placid back in 2024 and the kids had a great time. This year, my wife and I debated where we should go for the February school break. We threw around some options, but ended up with either Lake Placid or Vermont.
We decided on Lake Placid, mainly due to our familiarly with the winter conditions at the location and the fact that there were some things I wanted to do.
Having driven by Cascade Lake in Keene on many occasions, it was always a goal of mine to ice skate on the frozen lake. The view and the experience was amazing. Another item that I wanted to take care of was to complete my version of the Tupper Lake Triad challenge. I had left out Goodman Mountain during our visit in the Summer due to the moose situation confusion and it was great to have closed the challenge. To be honest, it was actually very enjoyable to hike Goodman in the winter with the well broken in trails.
On this trip, the kids rode the Cloudsplitter gondola at Whiteface to the top, before we left and headed to Cascade Lake for ice skating and walking on the ice. During the trip there was a winter storm advisory however we went to High Falls Gorge before the snow started to come down. As we were done with High Falls, the snow was coming down hard… but I decided why not swing by Mirror Lake because: 1) when or how often would we be able to do this again and 2) no one would be there (I was wrong). It turned out well.
Anyways, 99% of the footage was shot with my new DJI Action 6. There’s a slight learning curve coming from the GoPro Hero10. Hopefully I can narrow down the settings sooner rather than later. Thanks for watching.
